Barbara Hagen, 1941-2017

Funeral services for Barbara L. Hagen, 75, of Bricelyn will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. The Rev. James Kassara will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Online condolences are welcome at www.bayviewfuneral.com.

Barbara died Thursday, April 20, 2017, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea.

Barbara Lucille Hagen was born Dec. 1, 1941, in Vinje, Iowa, the daughter of Leonard and Emelie (Greene) Laite. She grew up in Vinje and Albert Lea, graduating from Albert Lea High School. Barbara went on to attend Austin Community College and became a licensed practical nurse. She worked at St. John’s Lutheran Community and spent many years in the nursing pool.

On June 20, 1959, Barbara was united in marriage to Ronald Hagen at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Albert Lea.

Barbara was a member of the Bricelyn Legion Auxiliary since 1974. She enjoyed sewing, reading, fishing and watching western movies. She was also a regular Red Cross blood donor.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Ronald; children Judy (LeRoy Vargas) Siemasko, Lonny (Karen) Hagen, Jeff (Brenda Baker) Hagen, Sheryl (Gordy) Kuether, Dawn Hagen and William (Brekka Kaderabek) Hagen; grandchildren Richard Siemasko, Andrew (Kristina) Siemasko, Crystal Siemasko, Noelle Hagen, Rachel Hagen, Emma Hagen, Jonathon (Angela) Yarum, Hayley Kuether, Skyler Horton, Bailey Horton, Codey (Jamie) Hagen, Joshua Hagen and Michelle Hagen; 10 great-grandchildren; mother, Emelie Laite; siblings Ray (Phyllis) Laite, Ronald (Becky) Laite, Charlotte Haberman, Linda (Jim Mills) Laite and Colleen (James) Wyant; brother-in-law, David (Carol) Hagen; sister-in-law, Sandy (Jack) Smith; and many nieces and nephews.

Barbara was preceded in death by her father, Leonard Laite; grandson, Brandon Hagen; brother-in-law, Donald Haberman; sister-in-law, Jenny Laite; niece, Josephine Laite; father-in-law, William C. Hagen; mother-in-law, Gazena Hagen; sister-in-law, Sharon Hagen; and brother-in-law, Duane Hagen.
