University of Iowa releases dean’s list
The University of Iowa recently released its fall 2016 dean’s list. Among those recognized were Dominique Budach of Lake Mills and Francesca Eckstrom of Albert Lea.
According to a press release, the University of Iowa is one of the nation’s premier public research universities, dedicated to academic excellence, groundbreaking discoveries and creations, commitment to Iowa and the world, and a culture that prizes community, diversity and opportunity.
Albert Lea students recognized
Two area students have been named to the University of St. Thomas 2016 fall semester dean’s list. Students must post grade point averages of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale to be named to the dean’s list. Taylor Martinez and Tara Westland were both named to the list.
According to a press release, St. Thomas, founded in 1885, is a Catholic, independent, liberal arts university. With a coeducational student body numbering more than 10,000, it is Minnesota’s largest independent college or university. More than 2,000 of the university’s undergraduates were named to the fall semester dean’s list.
Alden student makes UNL dean’s list
Jessica Price of Alden has been named to the dean’s list at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for the fall semester of the 2016-17 academic year.
Price, a junior nutrition and health sciences major, was named to the dean’s list for the College of Education and Human Sciences.
According to a press release, more than 4,500 students at Nebraska have been named to the dean’s list for the fall semester of the 2016-17 academic year.
Waldorf University recognizes local students
Waldorf University recently recognized students who have achieved the dean’s list for the fall 2016 semester. Brook Beal and Brooke Hagen, both of Lake Mills, were among those listed on the dean’s list.
To achieve the dean’s list, students must be full-time, attain a grade point average of 3.5 or better and complete a minimum of 12 semester credits.
Area student receives diploma
BlueSky Online School has announced that Corey Foland has earned his high school diploma.
“BlueSky’s key to student success is our unique approach to supporting students like Corey,” said Amy Larsen, superintendent at BlueSky. “Each student has a dedicated support team which includes an advisor, a counselor and a social worker who gives students the one-on-one attention they need when working toward graduation.”
According to a press release, BlueSky brings a personal touch to online learning. Students, parents and staff work together to design a state-aligned program that works best for each student’s learning style, skill level, grade level and credit requirements.
Student named to dean’s list
A total of 372 students at Mitchell Technical Institute have been placed on the fall semester 2016 president’s list, according to MTI President Mark Wilson. Students must earn a term GPA of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and complete at least 12 hours of academic work during the semester.
Among those honored was Carter Kortan of Albert Lea, who is majoring in power line construction and maintenance.
St. Mary’s University releases
dean’s list
Emily Ortiz was among those named to the first semester 2016-17 dean’s list at St. Mary’s University of Minnesota. The list includes 335 undergraduate students who earned a grade point average of 3.6 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
Ortiz is the daughter of Miguel and Aletha Ortiz.
Area student named to dean’s list
Haley Shroader was recently named to the dean’s list at Iowa State University of Science and Technology.
