Civil War roundtable will meet

The Cannon Valley Civil War Roundtable will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Faribault Senior Center, 19 W. Division St in Faribault. There will be a Q&A session with decaf coffee and dessert after the presentation.   

The presenter for the evening will be Preston Eidenschink, a funeral director with two funeral homes in Northfield. Eidenschink was born in Litchfield. After moving to Long Prairie and graduating from high school he attended Moorhead State University. He completed mortuary school in Dallas. 

The presentation will focus on the history of embalming from early Egyptian times, through the Civil War and today. Embalming had its start after the Battle of Antietam in Maryland with 23,000 casualties in one day.
