Letter: More splash pad explanation is necessary

Published 10:13 am Tuesday, April 4, 2017

For months I have been reading and hearing about this splash pad.

Please explain this: kids, water, busy street corners, busier streets, parents with cellphones, no bathrooms, homeless people looking for a quick shower and 30 mph speed limits on a street with an ambulance service and hospital just a block away. How many kids will have to die before the city realizes what an idiotic place it is to place a park for kids. Does everyone in town need to lose a child before we learn from our mistakes? A child was just lost to a family this last summer because of no stop signs. Is that thru street going to have a stop sign placed on that corner before or after the death of a child? Will the Tribune print huge headlines asking for help to stop all the sudden deaths? Will all the businesses on North Broadway be required to open up their restrooms to wet feet, screeching young bodies who just crossed a very busy street, or will the kids all just pee in the pad?

Why that corner?
