Deb Linnes will be the guest speaker during the Dorothy Godtland Lecture Series at 7 p.m. May 18 at The Albert Lea Art Center, according to a press release.

The theme for her discussion is the art of the string instrument.

Linnes’ educational degrees include a bachelor’s degree in music and a master’s degree in music education. She teaches private studio instruction on violin, viola, cello and piano and is retired from the Austin public school orchestra program. She performs with Austin Symphony Orchestra, the Opus 4 quartet and as a violin soloist.

The event is free and open to the public.
