The NRHEG softball team had a slow start to its season.
Losing of seven of their first eight games, the Panthers looked like they might limp to the end of the season finish line.
However, for as slow as NRHEG started, it has picked up its play over the last month.
Monday’s 4-1 win over Blooming Prairie gave the Panthers seven wins in their last 10 games.
“It was a well-played game,” Panthers coach Wendy Schultz said. “Blooming Prairie is a good team that had a lot of hard-hit balls. Fortunately, the girls played great defense and were able to get outs.”
Starting pitcher Natalie Aaseth picked up the win, despite walking six.
Four NRHEG players scored a run and Alexis Anderson and Aaseth each had an RBI.
Gabby Muri led NRHEG with two hits.
“Gabby was our spark plug,” Schultz said. “She went 2-4 with a double. We got key hits from the middle and bottom of our lineup. It was a great team win.”
