Harold Louis “Sonny” Schroeder, 77, of Wells died Sunday, May 21, 2017, at The Beacon in Mapleton. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home. Sonny was born March 16, 1940, the son of Arnold and Helen (Murphy) Schroeder, and was raised in the Wells area. He married Catherine Tetzloff on Feb. 2, 1936, in Mankato and to this union three children were born. Sonny worked for Giese Farm Drainage from 1957 to 1975, when he started his own company with drainage and surveying. He worked as a land surveyor on numerous projects in southern Minnesota until he retired. He loved to hunt.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters Darlene Schroeder and Marlene Sonnek; and brother, Garold “Buddy” Schroeder.

Sonny is survived by his children Lonny (Shannon) Schroeder of Easton, Lisa Schroeder of Rake, Iowa, and Mark (Lisa) Schroeder of Ham Lake; wife, Cathy, of Wells; seven grandchildren, Brandon (Nissa) Schroeder of Sanborn, Cortney (Eddy) Barbosa of Buffalo Center, Iowa, Collin Blackstad of Lake Mills, Andy (Rachel) Schroeder of Easton, Bryanna (Troy) Sonnek of Minnesota Lake, and Max and Samantha Schroeder of Ham Lake; seven great-grandchildren, Tucker and Trace Schroeder, Luciana, Alicia and Emily Barbosa, and Ethan and Avery Schroeder; siblings Jerry Schroeder of Wells, Arnold “Butch” Schroeder of Easton, Patty (Mike) Armstrong of Mankato and Kenny (Tina) Schroeder of Wells; and many nieces and nephews and their families.
