Over the past six games, the NRHEG softball team has shown little difficulty scoring runs.
The Panthers came into a Friday matchup with Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton averaging 6.8 runs over the last three weeks.
NRHEG increased that average on Friday.
It scored early and often against JWP to win 16-6 in five innings thanks to big days by Grace Johns and Gabby Muri.
“This was a great team win,” Panthers coach Wendy Schultz said. “We played pretty good defense tonight and Natalie Aaseth had her best performance on the mound.”
Aaseth walked two batters and struck out five in her five innings of work.
But the offense was the talk of tonight’s game.
As a team, the Panthers hit .450 and Johns (six RBI) and Muri (four RBI) combined to drive in 10 of the team’s 16 runs.
“Grace had a stellar night at the plate,” Schultz said.
Johns went 3-4 with a double, triple and two runs scored.
Muri went 1-3 with a run scored.
Paige Knudson scored four runs for NRHEG and eight players scored a run.
Five players had at least one RBI.
The win moves NRHEG to 6-9 on the year.
It will play in a tournament today against Houston and Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop in Hayfield.
