The Civil War Roundtable meets in the early evening of this Thursday, at 7 p.m., in the media center of Southwest Middle School. John Haymond, executive director of the Mower County History Center will present “Torn By Shot and Shell, A Medical History of the Civil War.” 

Haymond did a wonderful presentation nearly two years ago about the outbreak of hostilities by native people here in southern Minnesota in 1862 after their being so ruthlessly abused by government agents and the consequential execution of more than 30 of them in Mankato, after President Lincoln’s review of charges rendered. Haymond has also authored a marvelous book, “The Infamous Dakota War Trials of 1862.”

The event is free to all folks wishing to attend.
