While the weather threatened rain most of the afternoon, the Albert Lea girls’ golf team was still able to get in nine holes during its quad meet in Austin on Monday.
Rochester Mayo played 15 strokes better than the rest of the competition, winning the meet with a score of 164.
Albert Lea came in second place with a score of 179.
“We had three different weather delays because of lightning, so it was an interesting golf meet,” Tigers coach Shawn Riebe said. “The girls handled it really well and posted a nice round.”
Maddy Carstens shot a 42; Emma Loch and Natalie Nafzger each shot 45; and Lexie Simon rounded out the scores with a 47 for Albert Lea.
“We keep getting closer to reaching our potential each week,” Riebe said. “This team has the ability to go far this season, we just have to put it together on the same day.”
Postseason play will begin on Monday.
