Temporary traffic signal to be installed

An interim traffic signal will be installed Friday at Highway 65 and Garfield Avenue in Albert Lea and should be operational early next week, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
The signal will direct traffic temporarily since the entire intersection system is planned for a new redesign and replacement in a couple of years.
A traffic signal pole was damaged recently by a crash, which forced MnDOT crews to remove the damaged equipment. The intersection of Highway 65 — also known as East Main Street — and Garfield Avenue has had a stop sign since June 30, while MnDOT worked to acquire the interim equipment and arranged to have it installed.
