To the Freeborn County Fair Board.
Thanks to the Freeborn County Fair Board and all others who helped make this year’s fair a success.
The board members donate many hours into making this event a great one for residents from Freeborn County and the surrounding areas.
Despite some issues with the weather, it seems to have gone pretty well. The only suggestion we have is to consider having more rides. We look forward to next year and seeing what other new things the board will bring in.
To the people who helped park cars at this year’s Freeborn County Fair.
If you attended the Freeborn County Fair this week and parked at the fairgrounds, you couldn’t have helped but notice the people parking cars. These people have parking down to a craft and help make it so as many people as possible can fit into the parking areas. Thanks for your diligence.
To Karen Callahan and Al Arends.
Residents Karen Callahan and Al Arends were recognized with the Outstanding Senior Citizen Award Wednesday at the Freeborn County Fair.
Arends, a retired businessman, founded the Albert Lea Education Association, Albert Lea Pathways to Success program and Experience Albert Lea and was one of the founders of Albert Lea-Save Our Hospital.
Callahan, who was an active volunteer for the Story Lady Doll and Toy Museum, more recently has volunteered at Fountain Lake Bookstore, Shades of Jade Garden Club and the Freeborn County Historical Museum.
We thank both of these people for their dedication to the community and commend them for their accomplishments.
To Albert Lea City Clerk Shirley Slater-Schulte.
Thanks to Albert Lea City Clerk Shirley Slater-Schulte, who spent more than 11 years with the city and more than 40 years in local government work.
Slater-Schulte retired Friday and has plans to move to Dayton.
We wish her the best of luck in her endeavors.
