Hawthorne Elementary had its walk-a-thon Sept. 15. The students raised over $13,500. After meeting their first goal of $10,000, the teachers had to wear tutus while walking. The second goal was $13,000, which meant Judi Vitito, the school’s principal, was slimed by staff. The students with the most pledges in their class were able to throw a pie at her. Staff and students with the most raised money in each class were able to throw a pie at Jeffrey Groth, the school’s physical education teacher. Provided
