Working with buddies

As part of the schoolwide focus on social/emotional learning at Sibley Elementary, each third-grader has been paired up with a kindergarten student for the 2017-18 school year. The third-graders have been working with their buddy since the first day of the school year to help them learn school routines, such as how to go through the lunch line, get on the bus at the end of the day, and they will continue to read with them throughout the year. The buddies will also be in the same Sibley family, a multi-aged group of students that meet once a month to make connections with other staff and students in the building, creating a larger network for student support.
