Sixth-grade basketball team places 2nd in tournament

The Albert Lea sixth-grade girls’ traveling basketball team captured second place in the Mason City Hardee’s Tip Off Classic on Nov. 18. They defeated Hampton-Dumont 37-18, Belmont-Klemme 40-15, Waverly Shell Rock Gold 30-29 and lost in the finals to Mason City 44-14. “It was a great start to the season with only two weeks of practice behind us,” said coach Tom Jones.
