Violet Young, 1939-2017

Private graveside services for Violet Young, 78, of Alden were held at Alden Cemetery. Rev. The Kent Otterman officiated. Online condolences are welcome at www.bayviewfuneral.com.
Violet died Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2017 at her home.
Violet Young was born June 20, 1939, in Litchfield, the daughter of Paul and Caroline (Thompson) Nimz. She grew up and attended school in Frost.
On Nov. 28, 1958, Violet was united in marriage to Larry Young at United Lutheran Church of Frost.
Violet worked various jobs in the service department and dispatch with Interstate Power Co. and later Alliant Energy.
She was affiliated with Methodist churches and served on the Alden School Board. She enjoyed bowling in her younger years, was a member of a card club and enjoyed reading. Violet’s greatest enjoyment came from sitting in her four-season porch facing the lake (#windowmonitor).
Survivors include her daughter, Joleen Ford; sons Dan (Sue) Young and Alan Young; grandchildren Joshua Ford, Jay Flatness and Brady Flatness; great-grandchildren Alannah Flatness and Emma Flatness; brother-in-law, Don Amundson; sister-in-law, Karen (Brad) Miller; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Violet was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Larry; in-laws Lester and Laura Young; sister, Virginia Amundson; and sister-in-law, Ramona (Clif) Sather.
