The Albert Lea High School choirs will celebrate the power of music in students’ lives at its concert at 7 p.m. Monday in the high school auditorium, according to a press release.
The concert will feature the celebr8 choir, Tiger choir, varsity choir and concert choir. The choirs are directed by Diane Heaney and accompanied by Bob Tewes.
Tickets for the concert are $7 for adults and $5 for students and seniors, and are available at the door. Music family concert passes are also good for the concert.
The concert is a special concert, as ALHS celebrates leaping into March, which has been designated as Music in Our Schools Month by the National Association for Music Education. This year’s theme is “Music Connects Us.”
Students will perform all styles of music and demonstrate things they have learned in class throughout the concert.
About 50 members of the different choirs participated in the solo and ensemble contest Jan. 20 at Lakeville High School. The celebr8 and Tiger choir students will travel to Chanhassen Dinner Theatre to see a professional production of “Newsies.”
The varsity choir went to the Ordway to see a production from Minnesota Opera and members of the concert choir will depart for a short choral tour to Minneapolis in April.
