Eighth-grader Megan Raatz has begun work on her Silver Award project for Girl Scouts, and she is looking for some help, according to a press release.
Raatz is a cadette in Troop 43224. She is making kits for the homeless. Each kit will contain shampoo, bottled water, soap, a comb, washcloth, toothbrush, toothpaste, socks, a snack and plastic spoon.
The kits will be given to community members to keep in their cars to hand out when they see a person in need.
Raatz is accepting donations for items to put in the kits. Those who would like to donate can send an email to rtzdennis@aol.com.
Raatz said she is excited about her project, and plans to hand out 50 kits to community members to keep in their cars. Raatz wants to make her project sustainable and hopes to inspire others in the community to make their own kits to hand out to people in need.
