Gwendolyn Trytten, 1926-2018

Funeral services for Gwen B. Trytten, 91, of Albert Lea will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Myrtle. The Rev. David Efflandt will officiate. Burial will be at Pilgrim’s Rest Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the services at the church. Gwen died Friday, March 9, 2018, at The Woodlands surrounded by her family.
Gwendolyn Beth Trytten was born June 27, 1926, the daughter of William and Sarah (Wilson) Faragher in Ellsworth. She was baptized May 30, 1928, at Congregational Church in Ellsworth and confirmed there in 1941. She was raised and attended school in Ellsworth, where she graduated.
Gwen then moved to Albert Lea to attend Naeve School of Nursing, getting her registered nurse degree in 1948. She worked at Naeve Hospital for several years.
On April 12, 1950, Gwen was united in marriage to Ferlando “Bud” Trytten at Grace Lutheran Church.
She continued her nursing career, helping wherever she was needed in the surrounding communities.
Bud and Gwen lived in the Glenville/Myrtle area since 1956, moving to Albert Lea in the 1990s.
Gwen was a member of the Naeve Nurses Alumni Association, VFW Auxiliary, Fraternal Order of the Eagles Auxilary and Bethlehem Lutheran Church, where she was active in the Mary Circle. She enjoyed gardening, canning, feeding the birds, and being involved in her children’s and grandchildren’s active lives.
Gwen is survived by her children Ken and wife, Peggy Trytten, of Austin, and Leota and husband, Doug Lind, of Albert Lea; grandchildren Cosy and husband, Todd Kriehn, Ryan Trytten and special friend, Nicole Hiatt, Kris, Casey and Zach Lind and Theresa Alberts; great-grandchildren Hailey and Jerett Kriehn and Deryk and Wyatt Espelien; daughter-in- law, Georgann Trytten; sisters-in-law Joyce Faragher, Carla Trytten, Diane Trytten and Marian Trytten; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Gwen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ferlando “Bud” Trytten; sons Richard “Dick” Trytten and Paul Trytten; daughter, Deby Trytten; and brother, Phil Faragher.
The family would like to thank Gwen’s dear friends Arletta Woods and Irene Weber, and those people who touched Gwen’s life with their support and friendship. Special thanks to the staff of The Woodlands, hospice and Pastor Dave, who provided such loving care in her final days.
