An Albert Lea man who reportedly sold methamphetamine to an informant in November 2016 near Morin Park was placed on probation for 25 years Wednesday in Freeborn County District Court.
David Frank Nolan, 38, was sentenced after he pleaded guilty in August to second-degree drug sale. He was given a stayed prison sentence of nearly 7 1/2 years in prison, which will remain so if he successfully serves probation. He was sentenced to 248 days in jail and was given credit for 248 days served.
While on probation, Nolan will not be allowed to possess firearms, ammunitions or explosives; and must complete the extended care outpatient day treatment board and lodge program, cognitive skill training and follow other court requirements. He is expected to undergo 40 hours of Sentence to Service time within 60 days of inpatient treatment completion.
Court documents state Nolan was charged after agents with the South Central Drug Task Force conducted a confidential informant purchase of meth from Nolan on Nov. 9, 2016. Nolan reportedly provided 4 grams of meth to a third party and the informant in the city parking lot within 300 feet of Morin Park.
In a separate file, Nolan was placed on probation for up to 20 years Wednesday for a probation violation in a case of third-degree degree drug possession in a school or park zone stemming from a June 2015 incident.
In a third file, Nolan was also charged with third-degree drug possession in a school or park zone, but that charge was dismissed at sentencing.
