Melba Meincke, 1924-2018

Funeral services for Melba E. Meincke, 93, of Albert Lea will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. The Rev. David Efflandt will officiate. Interment will be at Pilgrim’s Rest Cemetery. Melba Meincke

Melba died Thursday, March 22, 2018, at Good Samaritan Society of Albert Lea.

Melba Elvera Meincke was born April 27, 1924, on the family farm in Myrtle, the daughter of Herman and Emma (Wolff) Will. She attended country grade school.

On Nov. 9, 1949, Melba was united in marriage to Bernard Meincke.

Melba was a lifetime member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, having been baptized, confirmed and married there. She was very active with the church in her early years, including Ladies Aid, janitor, as treasurer and playing organ. Melba loved dancing at the Eagles Club and traveling with her husband on summer trips. She often volunteered with city voting in Myrtle.

Melba is survived by her daughter, Marcene (Tom) Gordon; son, Steve Meincke; granddaughter, Stacy (Jordan) Vollmer; grandsons Neil Meincke and Ryan Meincke and their mother, Karrie Butler; great-granddaughter, Katelyn Vollmer; sisters-in-law Lorraine Hinsch, Marlene (Fritz) Nibbe and Shirley Chenard; brother-in-law, Alvin (Linda) Meincke; and nieces and nephews and their families.

Melba was preceded in death by her parents Herman and Emma; husband, Bernard; infant brother, Erdman Will; sister and brother-in-law Luella and Herbert Stehr; granddaughter, Glenda Gordon; brother-in-law, Ray Hinsch; niece, Susan Nibbe; and nephew, Neil Nibbe.

Memorials are preferred to Pilgrim’s Rest Cemetery.
