Dale William Light, 86, of Breckenridge passed away surrounded by his family on Saturday, April 7, 2018, at St. Francis Hospital in Breckenridge. The funeral service will be at a later date.

Dale was born Nov. 13, 1931, to Ethan (Jack) and Mary Jane Light in Algona, Iowa. He lived there until 1949, when they moved to Emmons. After graduating in 1951, he helped his parents on the farm and later spent two years in the U.S. Army.

After being honorably discharged from the Army in 1958, he was united in marriage to Audrene (Dee) Seuser. The couple continued to farm until Dale returned to school in 1965 for a two-year degree in automotive mechanics in Pine City. After graduating with his automotive degree, Dale went to work for Midway Motors in Albert Lea as a motorcycle and small engines mechanic.

In 1973, the couple moved to Wahpeton, North Dakota, where Dale taught small engines and recreational motors classes at North Dakota State College of Science. After six years at NDSCS, he began over-the-road trucking, later working for Rogness Trucking of Fergus Falls until he retired.

After retiring, Dale and Dee moved to Stanley, Idaho, where they both worked for the Chamber of Commerce in a visitor center in the Sawtooth Mountains. Dale and Dee then moved to St. Johns, Washington, where they hosted at a golf course. They lived there for several years until moving back to Campbell due to Dale’s failing health.

Despite his health, Dale thoroughly enjoyed all the time he spent with his family and friends. He was passionate about traveling; he spent time touring all of the lower 48 states and the provinces of Canada.

When he wasn’t traveling, he looked for opportunities to help others, especially if it involved fixing things. Dale loved the companionship of his loyal dog, Sampson, and enjoyed riding his motorcycle. He was a hard-working and resourceful man who enjoyed life and loved with everything he had; he will be greatly missed.

Dale is survived by his beloved wife, Audrene (Dee) Light; his children Terry (Pam) Nelson, Randy (Karen) Nelson, Michael (Laurel) Light and Nancy (Brock Anderson and his son, Chance) Holweger; his grandchildren Julie Nelson, Jamie (Kayla) Nelson, Jennifer Nelson, Aubree (Ryan) Herrick, Ethan Light, Samantha (Eric) Stoll, Dane (Stephanie) Holweger and Tanner (Malibu) Holweger; his great-grandchildren Bryce Nelson, Braxton Nelson, Journey Nelson, Charolette Light, Parker Holweger, Jaxon Holweger, Ryden Holweger and Mercadez Holweger; his siblings John (Ginny) Light of Albert Lea and Pat (Roger) Bekaert of Albert Lea; and his sister-in-law, JoAnn Seuser, of Albert Lea.

Dale is preceded in death by his parents Ethan and Mary Jane Light; his sisters Virginia Nelson and Harriette Vandegrift; his in-laws George and Arvella Seuser; his brothers-in-law Don Douglas, Howard Vandegrift, Donald H. Nelson and Gene Seuser; and his sister-in-law, Donna Light.
