On Tuesday, April 3, 2018, Marcia Dell Johnson of Rochester, formerly of Albert Lea, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home with her family after a long and courageous battle with COPD.

Marcia was born July 14, 1949, in Albert Lea to Delvin and Dorothy Johnson. She was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea and attended Albert Lea High School and Albert Lea Vocational Tech Institute.

Marcia was an avid pet owner who loved her fur babies. She enjoyed crocheting, crafts and collecting elephants, but she really enjoyed taking in the beauty around her — driving through the parks to see wildlife, going to zoos and driving to look at the leaves changing. This joy also extended to people, and she felt blessed to have spent her life working with adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities.

Her favorite thing to do, however, was cheer on the Vikings.

Marcia is survived by her brother, David (Mary) Johnson, of Cannon Falls; daughters Tamera (Allan) Rudy of Saskatchewan, Canada, Jennifer Johnson (Terry Schaefer) of Rochester and Melissa Hernandez of Rochester; grandchildren Anthony, Joshua (Kayline), Christina, Jazmin, Tyesha, Guillermo, Savannah and Adrienah; 11 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Marcia is preceded in death by her father, Delvin Johnson; mother, Dorothy Johnson; and sister, Linda Herman.
