No injuries reported after house fire engulfs Clarks Grove home

CLARKS GROVE No injuries were reported Sunday from a house fire.

Freeborn County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to 73950 275th St. at about 12:15 p.m. on a report of a roof fire. Upon arriving, heavy smoke and flames were reportedly seen coming from the roof, and the house was engulfed, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The home is owned by James and Maryalice Hanson. James Hanson was reportedly the only person in the home at the time of the fire.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, James Hanson started a fire in the fireplace and soon noticed haze and smoke alarms going off.  He then went outside and saw smoke coming from the roof.

Clarks Grove firefighters verified there were no injuries in the blaze, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The fire reportedly possibly started in a chimney near the roof of the house.

An investigation into the blaze is ongoing, and the State Fire Marshal’s Office has been contacted to help.

Geneva, Manchester, Hartland and Albert Lea fire departments, along with Gold Cross Ambulance, assisted on scene.
