Rehnelt Presented Norse Award

The Luther College women’s basketball team held its annual awards banquet on Friday, April 13. Sydney Rehnelt, a 2014 graduate of Albert Lea High School, was presented the Norse Award and her third collegiate letter.
The Norse Award is an annual award presented to the student-athlete who best exemplifies the dedication and desire to do whatever it takes to help the team improve both on and off the basketball court.
Rehnelt had her best year in a Norse uniform during the 2017-18 campaign. After missing last year because of her academic requirements as a Nursing major, Rehnelt returned to the Norse lineup and played in all 29 games that included seven starts. She was credited with 118 points, 73 rebounds, 27 assists and 10 steals.
She finished her Luther career with 208 points, 142 rebounds, 43 assists and 29 steals.
As a team, Luther finished second in the Iowa Conference with a record of 12-4. The Norse qualified for the six-team Iowa Conference Tournament and advanced to the championship game for the fourth year in a row and completed the year with a record of 19-10.
Head Coach Amanda Bailey completed her seventh year at the helm of the basketball program. During her tenure she has compiled a record of 109-79.
Rehnelt is the daughter of Kelvin and Amy Rehnelt of Albert Lea, Minn.
Luther College is a four-year liberal arts college affiliated with the Lutheran Church and is located in Decorah, Iowa. The Norse compete in 10 men’s and nine women’s intercollegiate sports.
