Carol Gilderhus, 1946-2018

Memorial services for Carol Ann Gilderhus of Albert Lea will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. John Holt will officiate. Interment will be in Lakewood Cemetery in Albert Lea. Friends may visit with family one hour before services at the church. Bonnerup Funeral Service is assisting the family.

Carol Gilderhus

Carol passed away Friday, May 11, 2018, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea. She was 71.

She was born June 10, 1946, in Albert Lea, the daughter of George and Laura (Grinolds) Peterson.

Carol was united in marriage to Larry J. Gilderhus on Aug. 21, 1964, at First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea.

She completed nurses training and enjoyed her years caring for others at Naeve Hospital Fountain Centers and St. John’s Lutheran Community. Strong in her faith, she was a member of First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea.

She enjoyed camping, sewing, reading, cooking and playing cards. Family always came first to Carol. She took great interest in their lives and activities and loved having them all together. Carol is survived by three children, Shari and her husband, Todd Sailor, of Lewiston, Angela and her husband, Troy Shover, of Jackson and Jason Gilderhus and his wife, Jennifer, of Albert Lea; grandchildren Dane Sailor of Jacksonville, Florida, Cody Sailor and Seth Sailor of Lewiston, Tristan Shover of Jackson, Trevor Shover (Santanna Bents) of Jackson, Trace Shover of Jackson, Alyssa Gilderhus of Sherburne, Isabella Gilderhus of Albert Lea and Markus Gilderhus of Albert Lea; great-grandson, Silas Shover, of Jackson; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Gene Pacovsky of Albert Lea, Thomas and Pat Gilderhus of Spencer, Iowa, Mavis Wermager of Elkton, JoAnn and Bill Dillon of New Berry Park, California, and Diane Roseth of Prior Lake; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Larry; her parents George and Laura Peterson; brothers George Peterson and his wife, Murdy, Tom Peterson and David Peterson; sisters Betty Abben and her husband, Leland, Kathy Pacovsky and Barb Armstrong; mother-in-law and father-in-law Thomas and Myrtle Gilderhus; and brothers-in-law Kenny Wermager and David Roseth.

Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association or a charity of choice.

Carol was very loving, caring, generous, happy and had a very positive outlook on life.
