MINNEAPOLIS — The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board now says there was no mudslide along the Mississippi River near downtown Minneapolis
Officials now say an onsite assessment determined that there was just a “very limited soil surface displacement” on the hill above West River Parkway following heavy rains Thursday night.
They said the road will reopen once barriers are placed along the west side of the parkway as a precaution.
It happened near the site of a similar incident four years ago that shut down the parkway for more than two years after a 100-foot-wide part of the hill gave way. The road was reopened after a $5.6 million project to install retaining walls and better drainage.
