Letter: Vote for man who will do what he says

Now that I’m out of the race for mayor of Albert Lea, I’ve been asked which candidate I support, and I haven’t made up my mine for sure. I’ve served with both men, and they both have done good things for this city.
Vern not standing up to Mayo — I can understand it’s his livelihood and most places of employment make you sign a document that you can’t say bad things about the place you work at or do something to make it look bad. You can be fired.
George, the same — him missing meetings because of his livelihood shouldn’t be held against him.
I’m going to vote for the guy who I believe can bring the council together and work as a team and listen to the citizens and advisory boards and not just say “yes” because staff says it a good plan.
I’ve been involved with this city for over 30 years, and I haven’t seen a good plan come from staff yet, and we’re still losing good-paying factory jobs.
I plan on listening to both and voting for the one I believe will accomplish the things he’s talking about and not the one just talking about stuff to get elected.
