A Hollandale father and son were injured Sunday when the pickup they were in collided with a semi at the county line of Faribault and Freeborn.
Nicholas Eide, 34, and his 8-year-old son, Tayven Eide, were flown by Mayo One helicopter to Mayo Clinic Hospital-St. Marys campus. Their conditions were unknown as of Tuesday morning. Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Todd Earl said Tayven Eide was in stable condition and his father was in fair condition late Sunday.
Eide was driving a 2007 Chevy Silverado south on 610th Avenue at about 35 mph when he allegedly failed to yield at the intersection with 310th Street. A 2012 Mack truck heading east on 310th Street, driven by Maclan Buschlack, 22, of New Richland allegedly struck the Silverado on the pickup’s passenger side at the intersection after seeing the Silverado and trying to slam on the brakes, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Tayven Eide did not regain consciousness at the scene, while his father did before he was airlifted, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Buschlack was not injured in the crash.
Minnesota State Patrol, Faribault County Sheriff’s Office, Gold Cross Ambulance and Allen’s Tow ‘n Travel assisted on scene.
