Two people were taken to the hospital Wednesday after a rear-end crash near the intersection of East Main Street and Ulstad Avenue.

Dallas Ball, 25, of Austin, was taken to Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea with a possible injury, and Tiffany Rose, 18, was taken to the hospital with at least one injury deemed not life-threatening, according to Albert Lea police.

Ball was driving a 1990 Grand Prix east on East Main Street when he braked to avoid striking a deer, causing the rear-end crash with a 2001 Buick Century driven by Trouper Gilbertson, 29, of Albert Lea, who was traveling close behind, at about 8:10 p.m., east of the intersection of East Main Street and Ulstad Avenue.

Rose was a passenger in the Century.

Ehric Barnes, 28, a second passenger in the Century, was not taken to the hospital.

Ball and Rose were not wearing their seat belts, and alcohol was not a factor in the crash, the report states.

Police cited Ball for having no insurance.
