Brooks captures 6th term

Incumbent Albert Lea Ward 6 Councilor Al “Minnow” Brooks captured his sixth term in office Tuesday with a decisive victory over challenger Nick Ronnenberg.

Brooks won 61.54 percent of the vote to Ronnenberg’s 37.8 percent  — 560 votes to 344 votes.

“I am very pleased with the results and grateful to the voters for allowing me the privilege to serve as their councilman for the next four years,” he said in a text message. “I will do my best to represent the needs and wishes of the constituents of the 6th Ward as well as the community in moving our community forward.”

Ronnenberg spoke highly of the campaign he ran.

“It’s been a great race,” Ronnenberg said in a text message before results came in. “I learned a lot through this process and met a lot of great people. Whatever happens tonight, my goal is what is best for the future of Albert Lea.”
