1 injured in central Minnesota crash

An Albert Lea boy was injured Sunday after two vehicles collided on wet roads in Mille Lacs County.

Austin Nethaniel Smith, 9, was taken to Onamia Hospital in Onamia with an arm injury.

Mercedes Michelle Bain, 28, of Albert Lea was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Impala west on 330th Street and reportedly pulled out in front of a 2017 Toyota Sienna, driven by Joanne Kay Dahinden, 59, of Hillman, that was southbound on U.S. Highway 169. The crash took place at 11:05 a.m. Sunday, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Bain and Dahinden were not injured in the crash, the report states.

Smith was a passenger in the Impala.

Alcohol was not a factor in the crash, and all involved were wearing their seat belts, according to the report.
