Editorial: We want to see your lights this holiday season

We are on the hunt for some of the best lights displays on homes this holiday season in Albert Lea.
Whether you have scores of classic white lights, colored lights, icicles, figurines, synchronized lights, Nativity sets or anything in between, we’d love to showcase them.
The custom of Christmas lights began when people decorated Christmas trees with candles, symbolizing Jesus Christ as being the light of the world. It expanded into electric lights on trees in the early 20th century and to displaying strings of electric lights on streets and buildings, too, in the mid-20th century. It became popular in the United States to outline homes with lights in the 1960s.
Whatever your reason for decorating this holiday season, we’d love to showcase your home on our website and in our newspaper.
Our goal is to let readers know where in the community they can drive to find impressive displays while out with family or friends.
Photos of your lights can be sent to Managing Editor Sarah Stultz at sarah.stultz@albertleatribune.com or brought into our office at 808 W. Front St.
