A Missouri woman was injured Friday when her car struck a median guardrail after hitting an icy patch of Interstate 35 in Freeborn County.
Elizabeth Marie Jenkins, 62, of Ava, Missouri, was taken to Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea by Gold Cross Ambulance with at least one injury deemed not life-threatening.
Jenkins was driving a 1997 Chevrolet Camaro south on I-35 when she hit an icy spot, causing her to lose control, spin out and strike the cable barrier at 9:38 a.m. Friday near the Freeborn County Road 46 exit, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
Jenkins was wearing her seat belt, and alcohol was not a factor in the crash, the report states. The Camaro’s airbags did not deploy.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation and Albert Lea Fire Department assisted on scene.
