A Nebraska woman who was allegedly driving drunk when she crashed a vehicle three other people were in has been charged in Freeborn County.

Jessica Joyce Beyer, 31, of Laurel, Nebraska, is charged with two counts of gross misdemeanor criminal vehicular operation and two counts of third-degree gross misdemeanor driving while intoxicated.

Court documents state Beyer was charged after a Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office deputy was dispatched July 17 to a rollover crash in rural Freeborn County. The vehicle was on its passenger side in the north ditch of Freeborn County Road 35 east of Freeborn County Road 26.

Three people — a 5-year-old, 10-year-old and an adult male — and two dogs who were in the vehicle at the time of the crash were described as outside the car when the deputy arrived.

Court documents state the man, whose name was not listed in the criminal complaint, initially said he was driving and had a .20 blood alcohol content.

Beyer allegedly admitted being the driver and said the man was trying to keep her from getting into trouble.

Court documents state Beyer had a .104 blood alcohol content.

Beyer and the man were taken to Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea following the crash.  Court documents state the man sustained muscle, fascia and tendon strains in his shoulder and upper arm, a back muscle strain and a left middle finger injury.

A New Amsterdam gin bottle was allegedly pulled from the vehicle’s back seat area.

Beyer’s first appearance is scheduled for Dec. 27.

As of Wednesday afternoon, Beyer was not in custody.

A mugshot for Beyer was not available as of press time.
