A Minneapolis woman who allegedly stole $13,254 from the account of a Lillydale-based business has been charged with a felony in Freeborn County District Court.

Nicole Marie Marlin, 36, is charged with felony theft.

Court documents state Marlin was charged after Home Federal Savings Bank reported to Albert Lea police March 27, 2017, that the Albert Lea branch of the bank stated money was being fraudulently withdrawn.

Lenertz Livestock reportedly deposited $13,254, and the money was allegedly placed in an account for Marlin rather than the business. Marlin’s account number was reportedly one number different than the one for the business.

Marlin’s account was allegedly dormant except for service charges until Feb. 7, 2017. Two withdrawals totaling $3,000 were reportedly made Feb. 7, 2017, and an $8,500 withdrawal was made Feb. 8, 2017.

The alleged victim and an Albert Lea detective reportedly tried contacting Marlin unsuccessfully following the incident.

Marlin’s first appearance on the charge is scheduled for Feb. 7.

As of Friday, Marlin was not in custody.

A mugshot for Marlin was not available as of press time.
