The Minnesota Department of Transportation has closed Interstate 90 west of Interstate 35 as heavy snow falls on the area.
MnDOT’s road condition website states travel is not advised in Albert Lea or the surrounding area, including on I-35 from the Iowa border to Faribault.
According to the Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page, county plows have been pulled from the roads, and MnDOT roads are having a tough time keeping up.
“Visibility is greatly reduced,” the Sheriff stated. “Tow trucks are not pulling vehicles out. Please don’t go out on the roads until after the weather has improved.”
Freeborn County is in the middle of a blizzard warning through 6 p.m. Sunday.
