As a child, Lorraine attended Petersburg Township School, later graduating from Jackson High School in 1947. After high school Lorraine helped on the family farm.

On Dec. 28, 1950, Lorraine was united in marriage to Willard (Willie) Miller by the justice of the peace in Lakefield while Willie was home on a brief leave from the military. After marriage, Lorraine lived with Willie’s parents until his honorable discharge in 1952. After Willie’s discharge, the couple made their home in Jackson. In 1975, the couple moved to a farm in Pipestone. Willie passed away on Christmas Day in 1976. Shortly after Willie’s passing, Lorraine moved back to Jackson. After returning to Jackson, Lorraine worked for the Jackson County Pilot for several years.  Lorraine remained at home until she passed away at Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2019, at the age of 91 years, 3 months and 29 days.

Lorraine was baptized and confirmed into the Catholic faith at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Jackson.  Lorraine became a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in 1958, becoming a dedicated and active member of the church over the next 60 years. Lorraine dedicated her time to the church, teaching Sunday school, Altar Care, Release Time, Ladies Aide, folding church bulletins and sewing quilts at home for the church quilting circle.  Lorraine enjoyed spending her time baking bread, gardening and working on the farm. Later in life she enjoyed watching old Westerns, especially “Gunsmoke.” Lorraine also loved spending time watching her grandchildren’s sporting events and watching her great-grandchildren grow up. She was an avid fan of the Minnesota Twins, especially Joe Mauer.

Lorraine is survived by her four children, Craig (Kathleen) Miller of Albert Lea, Neil (Linda) Miller of Jackson, Susan (Gary) Flurer of Jackson and Patti (Dan) Einertson of Jackson; also surviving are her eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Blessed be the memory of Lorraine Alice Miller.
