Man charged for stealing $8K worth of items from Walmart

A St. Paul man who allegedly stole 26 Apple Watches and two Hewlett-Packard laptops Jan. 15 from Walmart in Albert Lea was charged Tuesday in Freeborn County District Court.

Ezekiel Octavius Brown, 19, is charged with felony theft.

Court documents state Brown was charged after an Albert Lea police officer was dispatched Jan. 15 to Walmart regarding a theft that reportedly occurred at 10 a.m. that day.

Brown allegedly pried open a display case with a crowbar and took two HP Chrome 11 laptops each valued at $249 before prying open another display case and taking 26 Apple watches.

Court documents state Walmart asset protection valued the stolen items at $8,110. 

Brown’s first appearance is scheduled for Feb. 28.
