The Secretary of Education, Betsy DeVos, wants to cut $18 million from the Special Olympics. She would not say who’s heartless idea this was.

The Special Olympics promotes respect, dignity and inclusion for individuals with intellectual disabilities. I have been blessed to be able to attend Special Olympic softball tournaments in Mankato and Faribault.

Many organizations and volunteers are required for these softball tournaments. It is amazing to see all these people involved in supporting these very special people.

This is their day to shine in the spotlight.  Words can not describe their enthusiasm and exuberance. You go home feeling uplifted and inspired by these very special people.

The idea that Betsy DeVos would even consider cutting these funds is reprehensible.
