1. Family Fun Festival

Northbridge Mall will host a Family Fun Festival from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Event admission is free, and children must be accompanied by an adult. There will be activities, crafts, prizes and opportunities to learn more about different activities and programs for children in Freeborn County.

2. Family mystery movie

Marion Ross Performing Arts Center will host a free PG-rated movie at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Albert Lea theater. Registration is not needed for the event — which is co-sponsored by Albert Lea Family Y, and the movie will be a surprise. Food or drinks are not allowed in the theater.

3. All-Student Art Show

The All-Student Art Show starts this weekend with an open house from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at The Albert Lea Art Center. The exhibit will run Sunday through April 27. All levels of work will be on display in the show, from the elementary through high school levels, along with the work of students from the Area Learning Center and the Adult Learning Center.

4. Luther College Collegiate Chorale

As a part of its centennial celebration, First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea will host the Luther College Collegiate Choral at 7 p.m. Friday. Admission is free for the event, but donations will be accepted. This year’s show theme is “Legacy,” and the show intends to celebrate life and how people want to be remembered.

5. Community meals

A number of community meals are scheduled for this weekend, some to observe Lent and others to help worthy causes. St. Theodore Catholic Church will host a fish fry from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday in Marian Hall at the church in Albert Lea. Adults eat for $10, children ages 4 to 12 for $6, and children under 3 eat for free. The menu includes fish, baked or mashed potatoes, coleslaw, dinner rolls, ice cream, bars, coffee, milk and water. There will be an upgraded build-your-own sundae bar as well.

Also on Friday, the Glenville American Legion will host a barbecue chicken and rib supper to benefit Myrtle Fire Department. The supper will be from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Glenville Legion, and dinner will be prepared by Smokin Bros BBQ with mashed potatoes donated by Mrs. Gerry’s. The cost is $12, with all proceeds going to purchase equipment for the fire department.

Two different breakfasts will take place Sunday. There will be a pancake breakfast to benefit Conger volunteer firefighters from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at Conger Community Center. Adults eat for $7, and children 6 to 12 eat for $5. All-you-can-eat pancakes, French toast, eggs, sausages, orange juice and coffee are on the menu.

The Alden American Legion will host a breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon Sunday for $5, with children under 6 eating for free. Choice of Belgian waffles, regular or blueberry pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage links, milk, juice and coffee will be on the menu.
