2. Young Eagles flight rally

There will be free airplane rides for children from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Albert Lea Airport as a part of a Young Eagles flight rally. Children ages 8 to 17 years old will be able to go on the plane rides, with their parents’ permission. In the case of inclement weather, the event would take place from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday. The event is sponsored by EAA Vintage Chapter 13. For more information, contact Denise Sandager at 507-402-7259.

3. Take a Kid Fishing

The annual Take a Kid Fishing local event will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday in Edgewater Park. Children 16 years old and younger will receive a free fishing rod and a free meal of a can of pop, a hot dog and bag of chips. The local event is sponsored by the Albert Lea Anglers and the Fountain Lake Sportsman’s Club. The event is a part of the statewide Take a Kid Fishing Weekend, which runs Friday through Sunday, and allows Minnesota residents to fish without licenses if they take children 15 years old or younger fishing. According to Minnesota’s Department of Natural Resources, while Minnesotans 15 and younger don’t need fishing licenses any time of the year, Take a Kid Fishing Weekend is a way for adults and children to fish together without the step of buying a license.
