1. Corey Goodnature Memorial Golf Classic

The annual Corey Goodnature memorial scholarship event and golf tournament will be this Saturday at Green Lea Golf Course, 101 E. Richway Drive in Albert Lea. Goodnature, a chief warrant officer in the U.S. Army, died in 2005 after the MH-47 Chinook helicopter he was piloting while responding to a call to rescue a team of Navy SEALs was shot down in Afghanistan.

Saturday’s events have registration and a silent auction starting at 11 a.m., opening ceremonies — where scholarship recipients are named — at 12:30 p.m., a shotgun start for the golf tournament at 1 p.m., a meal and the close of the silent auction at 5:30 p.m. and a live auction at 6:30 p.m.

 

2. Norah’s Got Heart

There will be a benefit for Norah Johnson, 8, who received a new heart. The benefit will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Edgewater Bay pavilion in Albert Lea. Hotdogs, salad, chips and root beer floats will be on the menu, and there will be 50/50 and prize raffles, a silent auction and a bake sale. 3. Ellendale Days

The annual Ellendale Days festival is scheduled for Thursday through Sunday in Ellendale. Some of the events include a Christmas in June celebration, a color run, street dances and a parade, among others. 4. Bricelyn Fourth of July celebration

Bricelyn will bring on the patriotic festivities this weekend ahead of Independence Day. Friday through Sunday will see street dances, the Ron Sander Memorial Run, fireworks and a medallion hunt, to name a few. 5. The Magic of Celtic Music

A performance and chance to learn about Celtic music with instruments from Laura MacKenzie will be from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Albert Lea Public Library, 211 E. Clark St. in Albert Lea. The project is funded with money from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
