Albert Lea and the surrounding area are under a flash flood watch through Thursday morning as excessive rainfall is possible overnight.
The National Weather Service states 1 to 3 inches of rain are expected, with localized higher amounts possible.
According to the weather agency, recent heavy rainfall has led to moist soil conditions and elevated streams and creeks across south central Minnesota. The combination of high rainfall and wet soil conditions could lead to rapid runoff and localized flooding.
There is also a slight risk of severe thunderstorms with large hail and damaging wind, with the possibility of an isolated tornado.
The flood watch remains in effect through 7 a.m. Thursday.
