Parent company commences bankruptcy proceedings
With the news earlier this week that Perkins and Marie Callender’s have commenced Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings, diners in Albert Lea will be happy to hear that Albert Lea’s Perkins is not one of the restaurants slated for closing.
According to a press release issued by the company Sunday, it was announced that 10 Perkins and 19 Marie Callender’s locations in underperforming areas were closing.
When reached for comment, the Albert Lea Perkins management confirmed that it was not one of the locations affected by the closures.
On Monday, Perkins and Marie Callender’s LLC announced it was looking to sell the company and initiated the bankruptcy proceedings to facilitate the sale.
By going forward with Chapter 11 restructuring, both Perkins and Marie Callender’s will be allowed to maintain the usual employee compensation and benefit programs, make payments for goods and services in the normal course and otherwise operate business as usual.
“Our intention moving forward is to minimize disruptions and ensure that the sale process is as seamless to guests, employees and vendors as possible,” said Jeff Warne, president and CEO of Perkins and Marie Callender’s LLC.
