Albert Lea residents invited to participate in interim report and discussion event

The economic development strategic plan process is underway with Albert Lea Economic Development Agency partners — the city of Albert Lea, Freeborn County, Albert Lea-Freeborn County Chamber of Commerce and the Albert Lea Convention and Visitors Bureau, according to a press release. The plan will bring together a broad group of stakeholders to create a five-year economic development strategic plan.
According to the release, the process will be led by Ady Advantage, a specialized economic development and site selection consultancy that serves the needs of economic development organizations and relocating and expanding companies. Ady Advantage uses its in-depth knowledge of what businesses need to help economic development organizations craft effective business and talent recruitment, retention and expansion strategies and initiatives.
The community is welcome to attend the economic development strategic plan interim report presentation and discussion from 6 to 8 p.m. Nov. 12 at Wedgewood Cove, the release stated.
Staff from ALEDA will present the interim report findings followed by small group breakout sessions where attendees will discuss findings and record their thoughts to be shared with the consultants.
The evening will end with an overview on how the rest of the project will proceed and the remaining phases and their timeline.
This is a public event for the community to join ALEDA in the review and opportunity for feedback on initial findings. This is an excellent time for the community to get involved before the goals and visioning session takes place with representatives of the five agencies to determine the strategies the plan will focus on, the release stated.
ALEDA is the local economic development organization made up of two separate entities — the Albert Lea Port Authority and Greater Jobs Inc.
Those who have a new business or would like to expand their current business and are looking for assistance can contact ALEDA at 507-373-3930 or visit www.growalbertlea.com.
