Editorial: Time to share opinions on plans for economic development

Wish you could play a bigger part in helping Albert Lea and Freeborn County grow?
Here’s your chance.
As part of the process to develop a new economic development strategic plan for the area, the community is invited to attend a presentation and discussion from 6 to 8 p.m. Nov. 12 at Wedgewood Cove.
Ady Advantage, the economic development and site selection consultant firm hired to develop the plan, has been working with local leaders to develop business and talent recruitment, retention and expansion strategies. The process is part of a partnership between the Albert Lea Economic Development Agency, the city, the county, the Albert Lea-Freeborn County Chamber of Commerce and Albert Lea Convention and Visitors Bureau.
During the event at Wedgewood Cove, staff from ALEDA will present the interim report findings, and afterward, attendees will break out into small groups to discuss findings and record their thoughts to share with the consultants.
The evening will end with an overview of the remainder of the project and the timeline for getting it done.
We encourage you to help fill the room, and let your voices be heard. Leaders of these local organizations will use this plan moving forward, so it’s important it is something the community supports.
