Children send in questions for jolly old St. Nick

Editor’s note: Area children sent in their big questions for Santa Claus, and he took a few minutes out of his busy schedule to stop by the Tribune to answer them.

What is Santa’s favorite movie? — Lyla Clare Olson, 4

I enjoy any movie that spreads joy and Christmas spirit. The movie I saw most recently was “Frozen 2.” Adorable!

Hello, Santa, what kind of cookies do you like? What do you do for fun? Who made your Santa hat? — Ophelia Hendrickson, 4

Hello! My favorite cookies are any kind of Christmas cookie. My favorite thing to do is spread joy to as many people as possible. When I’m not doing that, I spend time with Mrs. Claus and like visiting the reindeer and all my friends at the North Pole. Mrs. Claus was nice enough to make my whole suit, including the hat.

Why can’t we see you, like, why won’t you reveal yourself? — Riley Crawford, 9

Because the spirit of Christmas is about believing, not necessarily seeing.

How are you so powerful with your magic? — Leighton Cincoski, 6

Lots of kindness and even more Christmas spirit. Everyone who believes and makes it their mission to do good every chance they get makes me a better Santa.

Why do you wear red? — Riley Thompson, 5

Red and white are Mrs. Claus’ favorite colors, and she made my suit. Now, whenever I see those colors, I think of her.

Am I on the nice list? How’s the North Pole going? — Parker Flatness, 6

I think you know the answer to your first question, Parker. The North Pole is bustling with activity at the moment, but it’s going well!

How many elves do you have and what are their names? — Riley Flatness, 9

I have too many elves to count and too many to name. I couldn’t make the Christmas magic happen without every single one of them!

Who is your favorite reindeer? — Charley Hrdalo, 7

I love each of the reindeer. It probably depends on the day as far as which one might be a favorite. Rudolph is always good to have around when the weather doesn’t want to cooperate on Christmas Eve.

Where do you store your toys over the summer? — Mason Hrdalo, 10

We have a nice big storage room where we keep the things we’ve worked on safe until I’m ready to head out on Christmas Eve.

Do the reindeer like to be pet and given hugs? Can I have lots of candy for Christmas? — Emersyn Yerhot, 3

My reindeer love to be pet and given hugs, but wild reindeer don’t necessarily like that. I’ll have to check with your parents about the candy.
