A memorial service for Sharon K. Lombard will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Bonnerup Funeral Service in Albert Lea with the Rev. John Holt officiating. Interment will be at Geneva Cemetery. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service.
Sharon passed away surrounded by her family Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2019, at Homestead Hospice House in Owatonna. She was 77 years old.
Sharon Kay (Johnson) Lombard was born Dec. 10, 1942, to Reiner and Mabel (Honstad) Johnson in Buffalo Center, Iowa. Sharon graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1960.
On Dec. 17, 1960, Sharon was united in marriage to Arthur L. Lombard at First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea, and the couple lived in the Albert Lea area their whole life. Sharon worked as an administrative assistant for a local accounting office for over 30 years. Before that, she worked at Club 16 in Albert Lea until the business closed in 1979.
Sharon was the glue for her family, and the rock that kept the family together. Her favorite memories are the ones where her family was present. She was a good cook, enjoyed camping, playing card games, and loved being a mother, grandmother and great-grandma! She always had baked goods in the freezer for the grandchildren, and always had a pot of coffee on for friends and family — a true Norwegian!
She is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Lombard; her two sons in infancy, Scott and Timothy; both parents, Reiner and Mabel; father-in-law, William; mother-in-law, Mildred; stepfather-in-law, Orville Hartwell; brother-in-law, Allen Lombard; and sisters-in-law Delores Lombard and Alice (Victor) Frost.
Those left to carry on her legacy include her children: daughter, Dawn (David) Barnick, and their children Jillian, Daniel (Amanda Nicholson), Patrick and Rachel of Albert Lea; son, Brad (Jena) Lombard, and their children Brady (Ashley) and Dylan of Faribault; daughter, Lisa (Jessa Silva) Reuter, and her children Ashley (Kevin Pagel) and their son, Cole, Sarah (Aaron) Verdoorn, Brendan and Bryce of Albert Lea; Kari (Mark Wannarka) Lombard and her children Nicholas and Molly of Owatonna; siblings Gary (Renee) Johnson of Clarks Grove and Ronald Johnson of Albert Lea; sister-in-law, Laurel “Sue” Stiehl, of Albert Lea; lifelong friends Beverly Torgerson and Donna Dulitz; her dog, Karlie; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended relatives and friends.
Blessed be her memory.
