Albert Lea girls’ hockey falls to Red Wing 5-1 on home ice, drops to 10-14

The Albert Lea girls’ hockey team hosted Red Wing Tuesday night looking to build up their section standing one week before the start of the postseason.

Unfortunately for the Tigers, they were unable beat the Wingers twice in a season, falling 5-1.

Red Wing scored two goals in the first period in the seventh and eighth minute.

Albert Lea closed the gap slightly when senior Mia Fjelsta scored an unassisted goal in the 11th minute of the first, however, it would be the team’s only goal of the game.

The Wingers scored two more goals  in the second and one in the third as the Tigers were unable to keep page.

The Tigers fall to 10-14 on the season and have one game remaining before the start of sections. The final regular season game will be Thursday on the road against Mankato East.

As of now,  Albert Lea  would be a No. 3 seed in the tournament and host Red Wing.
